Rodeos are one of the best places to go to see the thrill of competition of man vs. beast, and Idaho City is one of the best places to see a rodeo.
There are two major rodeos held in our mountain town. The first is the Gold Dust Rodeo, a 2 day rodeo event held at the end of June and is a long standing tradition in the community.
The second is the Jack Pine roundup, held in August. The Jack Pine roundup is a newcomer to the rodeo scene, but what an impression it’s made! It’s already known as both the largest rough stock event in the entirety of the Idaho Cowboys Association, as well as having the biggest payouts for cowboys and cowgirls.
The Gold Mine Hotel as well as the Grill and Saloon have been proud supporters of the rodeos over the years, serving as a headquarters in addition to hosting afterparties.
